The Kogi East Progressives Alliance has dismissed allegations linking the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, to plans to destabilise the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East following the recently concluded senatorial primaries.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Hon. Alhassan Idakwo, the group described the accusations made by a group identified as the “Kogi East APC Justice Forum” as false, unfounded and politically motivated.
The alliance said the allegations were aimed at tarnishing the image of the minister, whom it described as a loyal party member and a major contributor to the growth of the APC in Kogi State.
According to the statement, Prince Audu has remained committed to the success and unity of the APC and loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The group recalled that Audu played a key role as Director-General of the APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council during the 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, where he allegedly contributed significantly to the victory of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo through strategic mobilisation efforts across Kogi East.
It further stated that the minister delivered his polling unit and ward for the APC during the governorship election despite what it described as strong political and ethnic opposition against the party.
The alliance also noted that Audu had continued to organise stakeholders’ engagements across Kogi East to promote the achievements of President Tinubu and mobilise support for the Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group maintained that linking the minister to division within the APC was irresponsible and without basis, insisting that he had never acted against the interests or unity of the party.
It urged members of the public to disregard the allegations, describing them as attempts to create unnecessary tension within the APC for selfish political reasons.
