The Kogi State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders as part of efforts to enhance security, crime prevention, and public safety across the state.

Speaking at a Security Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting held in Lokoja on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, said the engagement was designed to foster collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, traditional rulers, civil society groups, youth organizations, and members of the public in addressing security concerns.

The meeting coincided with the operational assessment and strategic engagement visit of the Coordinating Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the North-Central Geo-Political Zone, DIG Isyaku Mohammed.

Kankarofi described the DIG’s visit as a demonstration of the commitment of the police leadership to effective supervision, operational efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery across commands within the zone.

According to him, the visit provides an opportunity to review the state’s security architecture, strengthen operational strategies, and deepen cooperation with critical stakeholders.

The police commissioner noted that Kogi State’s strategic position as the nation’s Confluence State, linking the northern and southern regions of the country, presents both opportunities and security challenges that require sustained collaboration among all stakeholders.

He said the consultative meeting was convened to encourage meaningful discussions on prevailing and emerging security threats, while also identifying practical solutions to enhance intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property.

Kankarofi stressed that community participation remains vital to achieving sustainable peace and security, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.

“We look forward to hearing the perspectives, observations, and recommendations of stakeholders whose contributions are invaluable to the success of community-oriented policing and the maintenance of peace in Kogi State,” he said.

The commissioner further assured the visiting DIG of the loyalty, professionalism, and dedication of officers and men of the Kogi State Command to the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, aimed at building a professionally competent, intelligence-led, service-driven, and people-friendly Nigeria Police Force.

The event attracted traditional rulers, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), youth groups, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, senior police officers, and members of the media.
