Recent developments surrounding the House of Assembly representation of the Ogori/Magongo Constituency, particularly the decision by the Kogi State Government to support the return of the incumbent lawmaker Hon. Bode Ogunmola for another term, have understandably generated widespread concern and intense discussions among many sons and daughters of the constituency.

As stakeholders committed to the peace, unity, and long-term stability of Ogori/Magongo, it is important that matters of this nature are approached with sensitivity, inclusiveness, and broad consultation. In political issues with deep communal implications, consultation should naturally precede major decisions, especially where longstanding understandings and delicate balances exist between communities.

For decades, the peaceful coexistence and stability within Ogori/Magongo have been sustained through mutual respect, political accommodation, fairness, and an unwritten but widely acknowledged spirit of rotational balance. It is therefore understandable that any development perceived to depart from these principles may generate anxiety, feelings of exclusion, and genuine apprehension among sections of the constituency.

The prevailing sentiment arising from extensive consultations held far and wide with well-meaning sons and daughters of both Ogori and Magongo communities is that the principles of fairness, equity, political inclusion, and balanced development should be applied uniformly across all constituencies and local government areas within the state. Many have therefore questioned why political considerations and infrastructure development adopted in places such as Okene, Adavi, and Okehi should not equally reflect in Ogori/Magongo. As the saying goes, what is good for the goose should also be good for the gander.

Furthermore, the longstanding understanding surrounding the rotational dynamics of the House of Assembly seat and the Chairmanship position within the Ogori/Magongo Local Government remains an important stabilizing factor in the local political structure. Preserving that balance is essential for sustaining trust, strengthening unity, and ensuring peaceful coexistence between both communities.

At this critical moment, all stakeholders, leaders, supporters, and community members are urged to exercise restraint, wisdom, and maturity. Every attempt to sow seeds of discord within the communities or use political differences to fracture the brotherhood and communal harmony painstakingly built over generations must be resisted.

Ultimately, this moment calls for dialogue, statesmanship, fairness, and sincere engagement with the people. The collective interest of Ogori/Magongo must remain superior to individual political ambitions.

May peace, justice, fairness, and unity continue to prevail in Ogori/Magongo.
