Youth leaders in Eggan Community, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, under the umbrella of the Egganchi Masses Youth Association, have vowed to deliver overwhelming votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, in the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was made during a meeting with the Speaker, who represents Lokoja II State Constituency in the Assembly.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, the youths assured the lawmaker of their continued loyalty and readiness to mobilise support for the ruling party across the constituency.
Speaking during the meeting, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf described himself as a proud son of Lokoja II, stressing that Eggan remains home to him and that the people of the community are like family.
He praised the people of Eggan for being hardworking, intelligent and dedicated, urging them to ignore rumours and misinformation being circulated by political opponents.
The Speaker assured the community that he remains committed to initiatives and programmes that would advance development across the constituency and improve the welfare of the people.
He also appealed to residents of Lokoja town to support the re-election bid of the member representing Lokoja I Constituency, Hon. Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani, for a second term in office, insisting that many of the allegations against the lawmaker were politically motivated and untrue.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Comrade Abdullahi Madami, commended the Speaker for what he described as impactful leadership and developmental strides in Lokoja II, especially in Eggan Community.
According to him, the Speaker’s contributions in the areas of primary healthcare, education, rural infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, as well as employment opportunities, have positively impacted the people.
Madami pledged that the association would continue to mobilise youths across the area to ensure a landslide victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
