ONE of the oldest college in Kogi State, Titcombe College Egbe, Old Students Association (TCEOSA), Class of 1980/1985 of the college has donated a block of four classrooms to the management of their Alma Mater, Titcombe College, Egbe, Kogi State.

The edifice is equipped with modern teaching facilities, and estimated to cost over N10m was on completion handed over to the school’s management at a dedication ceremony held at the project site within the school premises.

The President, TCEOSA, Class of ’85, Mrs Funke Eseyin, in her address said “it was a great day for me and all my classmates. We are glad for What the Lord has done through us”.

“39 years ago, as little boys and girls, we resumed form one, not quite conscious that God has gathered us for transformation, to be responsible adults and citizens of impact and in life and nationhood. I could never have imagined that 39 yesrs after, I would be standing before this noble audience to give a speech at the dedication of a block of four classrooms constructed by my classmates. I have tried to travel down memory lane because it is a reflection of our time in Titcombe College. We are aware that there exist many other gaps in the revitalization schedule of the college. The choice of this project by the 1985 set was based on a perceived ranking of what is required in the immediate. It is our hope and belief that God will raise other people to fulfil the unambiguous excellent purpose of God for the college,” she said.

The school’s principal, Elder J.O Onirinwa in his speech described the project as about the best of all efforts by the various sets of old students in the revitalization of the college , described the 1985 sets as “innovators” and “pacesetters”.

“As an innovator or imitator, leader or follower, there is always something to be grateful to God for, if only you can be reflective enough. God has made everyone unique in their own ways and I pray for you today that you will not die unfulfilled”.

Mr Tokunboh Afolabi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), who was chairman, handing over ceremony committee, speaking with reporters, disclosed that the project was executed within four months through contributions from members of the association. He declined to give an accurate figure of the the cost of the project, saying however that it is estimated to cost above N10m. He expressed satisfaction and joy with the successful completion of the project and that his class was able to contribute to the upliftment of humanity “in our own little way”.  He charged the management and students to put it to good use and ensure maintenance.

The ocasion which drew members of the TCEOSA set of 1985 from across the country was chaired by a one time principal of the college, Dr Job Adewumi and attended by dignitaries from Egbe community.
