Foremost grassroots politician and Member of the House of Representatives, Hon Salman Idris, has accepted an invitation to serve as the Chairman of the Ogidi Day Festival of Unity, coming up in Ogidi in Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
The Ogidi Day Media Office, in a statement said Hon Salman’s coming as Chairman would be the culmination of his many previous appearances at the show and his contributions to Ogidi in cash and kind since 2012.
Salman, a holder of the Friend of Ogidi Award, is said to have expressed delight at the role assigned to him at this year’s show which is of great symbolism to Ogidi and her friends.
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, the Ologidi of Ogidi, Oba Rabiu Oladimeji Sule said the role the politician agreed to play during the outing was in furtherance of his relentless support for the development of Ogidi over the years.
Oba Sule also praised Salman for all he had done across the federal constituency to improve the lot of the people.
On his part, the Director-General of the Ogidi Day Festival, Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho, praised Salman for his open commitment to the best values.
Ipinmisho, a former colleague of the lawmaker at the Federal Housing Authority, said Salman deserved praise for insisting that the right thing was done both at work and elsewhere.
He noted that there was no better person to take the role of Chairman of the festival this year than Salman who had done all in his power during the time of conflict to ensure that peace returned to the once fractured community.
Apart from celebrating the return of unity to Ogidi, the festival would help to mend fences in the community.
Initial reports indicate that no fewer than 300 friends and political associates of the politician would be on hand in Ogidi to felicitate with him on the occasion.
