Kogi West All Progressive Congress (APC) stakeholders forum has mentioned that both written records and video evidence of the APC Kogi west Senatorial primary election exercise which Senator Sunday Karimi won are already in the public domain for all Nigerians to see.
The Spokeperson of the group Mr. Stanley Ajileye made this known on Sunday during a press conference held in Lokoja.
He noted that the collective will of APC members in Kogi West has prevailed.
His words, “The entire nation is aware that Senator Sunday Steve Karimi emerged through the party’s direct primary process, which was conducted openly and transparently. Both written records and video evidence of the exercise are already in the public domain for all Nigerians to see
“However, it was shocking and disappointing to discover that some mischievous individuals among members of the Primary Election Committee submitted a different result from what was collated at the senatorial collation centre to the party’s National Collation Centre in Abuja
“Upon discovering that a falsified result declaring Aro Samuel Bamidele as the winner of the Kogi West primary election had been submitted to the National Collation Centre in Abuja, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi followed the party’s established procedures by petitioning the Primary Election Appeal Committee, presenting overwhelming evidence to prove that he was the duly elected winner of the APC senatorial primary election in Kogi West. It is heartwarming that, after a thorough consideration of the appeal and the evidence presented, the national leadership of the APC upheld the victory of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi as the duly elected APC candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2027 National Assembly Election.
“As we move forward, we urge every member of our great party to put the primary election behind us. There is no victor and no vanquished. The true winner is the All Progressives Congress, and the ultimate beneficiaries are the people of Kogi West.
Our focus must now shift to strengthening our unity, consolidating our structures, mobilising our supporters, and working tirelessly to ensure overwhelming victories for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
The stakeholders commended the APC national leadership for protecting the mandate freely given to Senator Karimi during the party’s direct primary election, noting that the outcome reaffirmed members’ confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
The group also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for what it described as his unwavering commitment to fairness, justice, due process, and internal party democracy.
According to the forum, the President’s disposition ensured that the wishes of APC members in Kogi West prevailed, further strengthening confidence in the ruling party.
The stakeholders thanked APC members across the senatorial district for their steadfast support and confidence in Senator Karimi, describing him as an outstanding lawmaker whose numerous constituency projects and intervention programmes have positively impacted communities throughout Kogi West.
They also praised Senator Karimi for extending an olive branch to his fellow aspirants and other party stakeholders following the resolution of the primary election dispute. The forum described the gesture as a demonstration of statesmanship, humility, and commitment to party unity.
According to the stakeholders, Senator Karimi’s widespread grassroots support and performance in office have further boosted the APC’s chances of retaining the Kogi West senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
The forum maintained that the direct primary election that produced Karimi was conducted openly and transparently, noting that documentary and video evidence of the exercise remain available in the public domain.
Calling for reconciliation, the stakeholders urged all APC members in Kogi West to put the primary election behind them, stressing that “there is no victor and no vanquished,” but that the true winner is the All Progressives Congress and the people of Kogi West.
They appealed to party members to close ranks, strengthen party structures, mobilise supporters, and work together to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Sunday Steve Karimi in the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
We therefore call on all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West to unite in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi to secure a resounding victory for our great party in the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections
