The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Nwuchiola Egwaba has charged women in Kogi State on the need to let their voices to be heard in whatever they do.

She stated this on Tuesday in Lokoja while receiving the Women Wing of the State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

She said the women should do away with the attitude of women pulling each other down and work courageously with one another, while collaborating with the men.

Rt. Hon. Comfort, who described the women as very important gender that are created specially by God, said they came prepared to take up challenges and excel at all times.

She said women in position of trust need to also need ensure they make case for the young girls at various levels of life to ensure they also become great in their chosen careers.

“Let not the office define you, you should rather define the office,” she stressed, adding that there is no need for them to allow their positions to have the better of them.

She urged them to ensure they live a good legacy that would make them become indelible, stressing that the days of raising shoulders in public office are over.

She expressed gratitude to the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his deliberate policies on women involvement in governance, adding that he paved the way for better life for Kogi women in his administration.

The Deputy Speaker also applauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his deliberate dedication to sustaining the policies of the administration he took over from, and said it has made the state to continue to make progress for the good of the society.

Earlier in her address, the State Chairperson of NLC, Comrade Rose Obademi described the women committee as an organ saddled with the responsibility of ensuring Women participation in NLC activities.

She described the Deputy Speaker as a woman that has been able to redefine legislature in the state as the First Female Deputy Speaker in the history of the State, and urged her to continue in her progressive policies that have endeared her to the people.
