Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have intercepted a vehicle loaded with 342 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in Kabba, arresting two suspects linked to the illegal consignment.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat.

The operation, carried out on May 9, 2026, followed a routine stop-and-search exercise by a tactical police team along the Kabba axis.

During the operation, officers intercepted a Honda Pilot vehicle and discovered the suspected illicit drugs concealed inside the vehicle.

Police authorities disclosed that the suspects attempted to bribe the operatives with ₦5 million to evade arrest, but the offer was rejected in adherence to professional ethics and operational standards.

The suspects, vehicle, and recovered exhibits were subsequently transferred to the Area Command Headquarters in Kabba for further investigation.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and integrity, the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain the crackdown on criminal activities across the state.

He also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information that could aid ongoing efforts to combat crime.
