THE Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Asiwaju Idris has reinstated that empowerment of women and youths in the state remains one the priority of the New Direction administration
The Commissioner made this known while declaring the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Plan (MTEP) program in Lokoja
The commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mallam Muhammed Jimoh said the purpose of the programme is to ensure accurate planning and good governance towards the overall socio- economic development and prosperity of the state.
Hon Idris noted that the activity based technique is aimed at improving strategic planning and efficiency of public expenditure.
The commissioner, while calling on DLG’s from the various local govt to take advantage of the ongoing MSMEs of the Fed government programme to engage the youths, said, such program will go a long way to curb youth restiveness as well as reduce crime rates in the society.
Hon. Idris emphasized on the importance of revenue generation and urged them to pay more attention to agricultural activities of the programme.
The Auditor General for Local government Mallam Ahmed Dodo, while speaking at the programme thanked the commissioner and his team members for the successful take of the 2021-2023 MTEP exercise.
Mallam Ahmed also used the medium to commend His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello on his relentless efforts to make Kogi grate again.
He said operation light up kogi east project has yielded positively as the Eastern part of the state has been connected to the National grid.
While calling on the good people of the state to continue to show support for the present administration to enable it deliver on its promises to the people, the Auditor general said just recently, the NUC granted the approval of Confluence university of Science and technology.
Earlier, the Director of Social Service and Regional Development, Mrs Theresa Olorunmola appreciated the Commissioner for his exemplary leadership styles demonstrated in the discharge of his duty.
She also thanked the Auditor general for finding time to monitor the exercise.
While commending the present administration for it’s transparency and accountability, Mrs Olorunmola said the conduct of the programme will add more fame to the state just as the state was rated high in improved cash management, in the areas of improved financial reporting and budgeting reliability by the world bank.
