The Distinguished Senator Jibrin Isah (Echocho) took upon himself to contribute positively to fixing the current challenges confronting our graduates differently by initiating a scheme aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship amongst the young chaps from Kogi East.

The first phase of the scheme’s ceremony took place on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba at it witnessed a seed capital of one million naira each given to the 20 beneficiaries with businesses and business plans screened and approved by an independent body that he set up under the coordination of Dr. Peter UgbedeOjo Nelson.

The project, Kogi East Graduate Entrepreneurship Scheme was inspired by Senator Jibrin Isah’s experiences over the years from private to public engagements concluding that what our young chaps needs is just that little push and they will be self employed and move on to engage others with time.

The scheme is not just stopping at giving the seed capital, but train, guide and network beneficiaries to succeed in their ventures.

Aside Ankpa and Dekina Local Government Areas that produced three beneficiaries each, The 20 million naira was given out to 2 beneficiaries selected from each local government of the 9 that make up the Kogi East Senatorial District which he (Senator Jibrin Isah) represents at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The process was announced and followed through online for the purpose of transparency thereby discouraging any external intervention. With this phase settled, the Distinguished Senator is prepared to scale it up to a 50 million and 100 million naira in the next phases of the scheme respectively as he desires to see many sustainable businesses growing from the region.

The senator and his team on this project will help beneficiaries to build bankable businesses so they can be linked to good funding sources that are available within and outside the country.

The Senator Jibrin Isah’s commitment to this scheme is no doubt a breath of fresh air as hope is coming to the youths and talents from the region through the immediate impact and multiplier effect therefrom.
