
Kogi State University (KoSU), Kabba, on Wednesday hosted a delegation from the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) for a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening campus security and sharing best practices on safeguarding lives and property within tertiary institutions.
The delegation, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor S. D. Musa, represented the Vice-Chancellor of FUL, Professor Gbenga Ibileye.
The visit was undertaken at the instance of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as part of efforts to enhance security across higher institutions in the state.
The visiting team was received by the Vice-Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, fNSM, FRA. During the engagement, both institutions exchanged ideas on practical approaches to campus security, with discussions focusing on surveillance technology, access control, intelligence gathering and sharing, emergency response systems, and collaboration with security agencies.
Professor Eniola reiterated KoSU’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment that supports quality teaching, learning, research, and community service.
He praised the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo-led administration for its timely interventions and continued support, noting that the government’s commitment has strengthened the university’s security architecture and enhanced the protection of lives and property on campus.
He also assured the Federal University Lokoja delegation of KoSU’s willingness to sustain collaboration with sister institutions and other stakeholders in developing innovative security strategies capable of promoting peace, safety, and stability across university campuses.
The meeting later moved into a closed-door strategy session, where KoSU’s Vice-Chancellor and members of the university’s security team shared key aspects of the institution’s homegrown security framework and operational strategies with the visiting delegation from Federal University Lokoja.
