The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has emphasized that terrorist attacks in Nigeria affect all faiths and not limited to a particular religion adding that terrorist has no religion.

He made this statement on private Television program, highlighting attacks on mosques in Zamfara and Katsina as examples.

Karimi alleged that some individuals are trying to misrepresent Nigeria internationally, but security agencies are working to investigate and expose them.

“The recent happening in the country are the result of people trying to prove a point and spread insecurity for political gain,” he said.

The Senator outlined measures being taken to address insecurity, including a proposed National Emergency and Security Act, which would allocate 5% of revenue to fund security.

He also emphasized the need for functional local governments, stating that dysfunctional administrations fuel insecurity.

Karimi disclosed his personal investments in security infrastructure, including a forward operational base, vehicles, gunboats, bulletproof jackets, and helmets donated to security agencies.

He stressed the importance of local government autonomy to curb sabotage, employ youth, and develop communities.

The Senate is working with security agencies to deploy police and military personnel to vulnerable schools, and the President has ordered the withdrawal of security men attached to VIPs to bolster operations.

Karimi suggested that state police may be necessary, citing examples from other countries.
