In the spirit of compassion and community service that defines the holy month of Ramadan, the Late Aisha Tanimu Nasidi Foundation (ATNAF), in collaboration with the Late Mai’uguwa Musa Nasidi Mosque Committee, has once again demonstrated the power of charity by presenting Sallah clothes to orphans and distributing food items to the less privileged.

The humanitarian gesture, which has now reached its sixth edition, brought together community leaders, Islamic scholars, and beneficiaries in an atmosphere of gratitude, reflection and prayer. The event highlighted the enduring legacy of philanthropy inspired by the late Aisha Tanimu Nasidi and the values of care and solidarity embedded in Islamic teachings.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Foundation welcomed guests and beneficiaries, describing the gathering as a modest but meaningful effort to support vulnerable members of the community during the festive season.

“Today’s gathering reflects the vision and enduring legacy of the Late Aisha Tanimu Nasidi Foundation (ATNAF), which is rooted in compassion, service to humanity and care for the most vulnerable in our society,” he said.

According to him, the annual initiative is aimed at ensuring that orphans and underprivileged families are not left out of the joy that accompanies the Sallah celebration. By providing clothes and food items, the foundation hopes to restore dignity and bring smiles to households that may otherwise struggle during the festive period.

He noted that the initiative draws inspiration from the teachings of Islam and the noble example of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who consistently emphasized kindness to orphans and generosity toward the needy.

“The true essence of celebration lies in sharing with others. When we remember the vulnerable in our communities, we strengthen the bonds that hold society together,” he said.

Beyond material support, the foundation also contributed to the spiritual development of the community during the Ramadan period. This year, ATNAF sponsored the annual Ramadan Tafsir, providing an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their understanding of the Qur’an and strengthen their faith.

The chairman also used the occasion to appreciate members of his family, particularly his children, who he said have remained committed to sustaining the foundation’s humanitarian work.

“I wish to specially appreciate my children who are active and committed members of this foundation. Your dedication, sacrifice and unity in sustaining this noble cause make me proud,” he said, expressing hope that the spirit of service would continue even beyond his lifetime.

The initiative also received commendation from traditional authorities. The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, who was represented by the Tafikin Lokoja, Engr. Sagir Abdulsalam, praised the programme and described it as a timely intervention, especially in the face of the current economic challenges affecting many families.

According to him, such community-driven efforts complement government initiatives and help cushion the effects of hardship on the most vulnerable members of society.

“This initiative will go a long way in helping families cope with the present economic crunch. Supporting orphans and the less privileged is a noble act that strengthens unity and compassion in society,” the royal father’s representative said.

One of the highlights of the event was the direct financial support extended to the beneficiaries. Engr. Sagir Abdulsalam announced a donation of N2,000 each to the beneficiaries, a gesture that was warmly received by those present.

Similarly, the Chairman of ATNAF presented a token of N3,000 each to widows and other vulnerable members of the community, further demonstrating the foundation’s commitment to easing the burdens of those in need during the Sallah season.

Special recognition was also given to Islamic scholars who contributed to the success of the Ramadan Tafsir. The foundation expressed appreciation to Sheikh Nayashi and Alaramma Hafiz for their dedication to spreading Islamic knowledge and guiding the community throughout the holy month.

Members of the Late Mai’uguwa Musa Nasidi Mosque Committee were equally commended for their tireless efforts in organizing the programme and ensuring the success of the sixth edition of the initiative.

For many beneficiaries, the event was more than a distribution exercise—it was a reminder that they are not forgotten. Several orphans who received Sallah clothes expressed joy ahead of the festivities, while families who benefited from the food support said the assistance would help ease the pressure of celebrating Sallah amid economic hardship.

As prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the late Aisha Tanimu Nasidi, participants also prayed for continued blessings upon those sustaining the foundation’s humanitarian mission.

In a period when many families are grappling with rising costs of living, initiatives such as this reinforce the importance of charity, empathy and community solidarity—values that remain central to both faith and society.
