Family members, friends and political associates of former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Patrick L. O. Adaba mni, have continued to reflect on his life of service, humility and integrity one year after his passing.

Adaba, an elder statesman and member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), served as Deputy Governor of Kogi State from 1999 to 2003 and was widely respected for his dedication to public service and commitment to the development of the state and the country.

Family members described the late politician as a bridge-builder who maintained strong relationships across political, social and religious divides, while remaining a respected voice in public affairs throughout his lifetime.

They noted that the overwhelming show of love and solidarity displayed during his funeral ceremonies has continued to comfort the family. Distinguished Nigerians, political leaders, traditional rulers, clergy and associates from across the country had gathered to celebrate his life and contributions.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Patrick Adaba Jnr expressed deep appreciation to individuals and institutions that supported the family during the period of mourning.

He particularly thanked the Kogi State Government led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, as well as political appointees, for the honour and support extended to the late statesman and his family during the funeral rites.

He also acknowledged the support of former Kogi State Governor Idris Wada, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, members of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors and current Deputy Governors, as well as current and former Kogi State representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives.

Other groups appreciated by the family include the Knights of St. John International, the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Correspondents’ Chapel of theNUJ, religious leaders, youth groups and several political associates who showed solidarity during the period.

Patrick Adaba Jnr also extended heartfelt gratitude to family members and friends who stood by the family and played supportive roles following the elder statesman’s death.

“As a family, we remain deeply grateful to everyone who supported us, prayed with us and honoured the memory of our beloved father,” he said.

To mark the first anniversary of his passing, the family announced that special prayer masses would be held in Abuja and Kogi State for the repose of his soul.

They also urged friends, associates and the general public to continue to remember the late Adaba in their prayers.

The family added that it remains committed to sustaining the values he stood for.

“As a family, we will continue his legacy of service, peace and dedication to humanity. Our prayer is that his life continues to inspire us and future generations to serve with humility and integrity, just as he did,” he said.
