THE apex Igala socio-cultural association, the Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA) have announced plans to host the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja to a grand reception to celebrate their victory in the last governorship election.
President of the association, Abubakar Sadiq gave this disclosure during the inauguration of the planning committee on Thursday in Lokoja at the office of the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja.
Sadiq said the reception will, among other things offer an opportunity for the Igala nation to parley with the Chief executive of the state and forge a more united front that will guarantee speedy development of Igala land.
He said the primary objective of ICDA is to advocate and network with all for the development of Igala land and her people, and noted that the administration of governor Yahaya Bello have displayed unmatched commitment to the growth and development of Igala land, hence the need for all stakeholders to join hands in supporting the government to succeed especially as it is set to begin its second tenure.
On his part, the chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Suleiman Ibrahim said the committee comprises of men and a woman of great values who are passionate about the growth of Igala land.
Reacting, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja commended ICDA for the initiative.
He said the task given was a call to service and pledged on behalf of members to live up to expectations and deliver on the assignment.
Onoja said the focus of the administration of governor Yahaya Bello is the overall development of the state, and he is always ready to partner with any individual or group to achieve this goal.
He said the current ICDA is different from the ones that existed before it and described its leadership as objective focused and people oriented.
He said the kind of positive impact that the current ICDA have on Igala land and her people within the last three years is one that is unprecedented, an indication that the future will be brighter than the past.
Onoja called on the leadership of the association to set up a succession plan that would ensure continuous improvement in the administration of the association, stating that only people with similar values can guarantee the future of the association.
The Deputy Governor appreciated the paramount ruler of the Igala Kingdom, HRM, Attah Dr. Idakwo Michael Ameh Oboni II for standing with truth and promoting what is right and just, against all odds.
He said his ascension to the stool of his father is in fulfillment a prophecy and the breaking of the age long curse placed on the land.
He assured of his presence for the reception and promised to convey the message to the Governor who will in turn confirm his availability for the event.
He however expressed optimism that come what may, the presence of the Governor will be felt at the event because he loves and respects the Igala people.
