Individuals and corporate organisations have been encouraged to initiate programmes that improve the living conditions of the less privileged in society.

The Branch Leader of Fidelity Bank, Lokoja, Mr. Nuhu Omale, made the appeal shortly after the bank distributed food items to vulnerable residents in Lokoja.

Omale said the outreach formed part of Fidelity Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, implemented in collaboration with the Kogi State Government to provide relief for the less privileged.

According to him, the initiative, tagged “Fidelity Food Bank,” is being implemented across the 36 states of the federation and has already impacted the lives of more than 1,000 people in Kogi State.

He recalled the visit of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Kogi State to inaugurate the North Central Food Bank Initiative, urging well-meaning sons and daughters of the state to emulate the gesture by supporting the vulnerable.

Speaking on the bank’s empowerment programmes, Omale explained that Fidelity Bank provides accessible credit facilities to small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) at low interest rates and, in some cases, without collateral.

He added that the bank also operates the “Fund Her” loan scheme, designed specifically to support women entrepreneurs by providing access to finance for business growth, thereby helping to reduce poverty and youth unemployment.

Beyond food distribution, Omale noted that the bank empowers beneficiaries with income-generating equipment such as grinding machines, sewing machines and other household tools to promote self-reliance. Some beneficiaries of the initiative, Mrs. Ileasu Barakat and Miss Onimisi Joy, commended Fidelity Bank for its compassion and commitment to supporting the needy.

He pledged to take advantage of the bank’s financial literacy programmes and savings opportunities to improve their economic wellbeing.
