We are writing this open letter to you fellow Nigerians on the destabilizing effects of the ongoing national protest which the unknown organizer termed the #ENDBADGOVERNANCE Protest.

The national protest which began on the 1st of August, 2024 even though patriotic Nigerians from all walks of life advised against it that it did not meet the lawful recognized criteria set for such protest. It is indeed true that protest is a recognized constitutional rights of all Nigerian but it has to meet such criteria that will enable it to mitigate the adverse effect such protest can have on the peace, security, growth and the development of the country.

Some of such criteria’s that the present protesters failed to meet to make it legal and genuine is that it failed to have recognized leaders, nobody was there on behalf of the organizers to seek for permit of the police, non-violent disposition, no route appeals, no notification, no respect for law and order, use of inflammatory language, lack of cleanliness, no media notifications and non compliance with health protocols and many more as stated in the law.

The violations indeed made the protest to become illegal and self-serving. Nigeria is a country of law because it is a constitutional democracy and the citizens have the right to be protected by their government as enshrine in the constitution.

Fellow citizens, the deliberate non-adherence to this stipulated guidelines for the organizing the protest even though protest is a constitutional guaranteed right from abinitio made the #ENDBADGOVERNANCE presently embarked upon by some Nigerians with faceless leaders and organizers an illegality.

The intent of the organizers of this protest and their sponsor are already known. This protest had already left in its wake sorrow, death, and destruction of both public infrastructures and that of many Nigerians threatened the foundations of our democracy, promoted arson and looting of public and private properties as it was allowed by the organizers to be taken over by hoodlums, mayhem and hindered to a great proportion the peace and stability of the country.

You will also agree with us that never in the history of our country had any protest led to the partakers hosting any foreign flags in flagrant disobedience of the fact that Nigeria is a constitutional democracy and a sovereign country.

No governance no matter how benevolent should ever allow this to fester in a country like ours because it’s a breach of our territorial integrity as a nation and a call for the over throw of a duty recognized government voted into power by the people.

We therefore call on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is the President and commander – in – chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to set up a judicial commission of inquiry to unravel the true leaders of the #ENDBADGOVERNANCE protest and their sponsors and collaborations in order to get their real intention for organising this protest and its violations of the laws of the land and recommend actions to be taken against them if there is a clear violation of the law of the land for them to be persecuted.

This action recommend will serve as a deterrent to those who would want to embark on such actions in future.

Our country is a democracy and a constitutional democracy, we must as a patriot Nigerian do all that is needed to protect this hard earned democracy and nothing short of this is required of us all.

Long live the federal republic of Nigeria
