A joint security team comprising vigilantes, military personnel and police operatives has rescued two persons who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The victims, identified as the manager and a sales attendant of Aluta Bar Relaxation Centre in Oke-Ijumu, Ikoyi, were reportedly kidnapped during an attack by armed men on the facility last Saturday.
Sources disclosed that the rescue operation was carried out on Tuesday by operatives of the Ogbe and Irele-Ekiti Vigilante groups, working in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force in Yagba West Local Government Area.
According to security sources, the kidnappers were moving the victims to a hideout when security personnel, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted them.
During the operation, several of the suspected kidnappers were reportedly neutralised, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
The two victims were rescued unharmed and have since reunited with their families.
Residents of the area commended the swift intervention of the security agencies and local vigilante groups, noting that their coordinated efforts were instrumental to the successful rescue mission.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent further criminal activities across the area.
