NYSC appeals for completion of ongoing projects at Kogi Orientation camp

THE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has appealed to Kogi Government to hasten the completion of the ongoing renovation projects at the permanent Orientation Camp in, Asaya, Kabba/Bunu LGA of the state.
Mr Olayiwola Lasaki, the State Coordinator of NYSC, made the appeal during the closing ceremony of 2019 Batch ‘A’ 1400 Corps members, posted to the state a year ago, on Thursday at Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
”The NYSC scheme is glad to note Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Direction policy includes the completion of on-going projects and the inherited projects at Asaya Orientation camp.
”Sequel to this very important policy, I do appeal on behalf of the Director General of the NYSC Brig. Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim that our Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya be given a finishing renovation in line with your dream of the State-of-the-Art Orientation Camp,” Lasaki said.
He thanked the governor for his administrative leadership and welfare that spurred hope in corps members, and for all the security measures put in place to encourage peaceful service year.
Lasaki noted that the number of corps members who stayed behind to work in Kogi after the service year were on constant increase.
He further commended the traditional leaders for the role played in their various communities in the state, which had encourage the good abode for the corps members.
The state coordinator, however, said that Kogi NYSC lost five corps members due to ill-Health in the service year under review, and prayed their souls to continue to rest in peace.
In his remarks, Gov. Yahaya Bello,, commended the corps members for their immense contributions in their host communities and places of primary assignments and Community Development programmes.
He stressed that his administration has encouraged the success of the service year through effective peaceful atmosphere of corps lodges and places of primary assignment.
Bello, who was represented by the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, urged the remaining serving corps members to identify and harness opportunities to the development of the state and personal development.
The governor assured that his administration in spite the limited resources, would continue to ensure that the aims and objectives of the NYSC scheme was achieved.
The five corps members were presented to the governor for State Honours Award, and four for certificate of commendation.
Miss Veronica Mmesironye, the most outstanding corp member among the five awardees, said that she was delighted to impact the lives of the children and the people of her host communities, saying it was a dream come true.
