
The Kogi State University, Kabba (KOSU), is set to partner with the Gender Mobile Initiative (GMI) to strengthen safety and protection measures within the institution through the domestication of the Campus Safety Initiative Memorandum.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, gave the indication on Wednesday while receiving the State Focal Person of Gender Mobile Initiative, Ms. Jimoh Saidat Ozohu, during a meeting held at the Senate Chamber of the institution.
The proposed memorandum, when adopted and signed, is expected to position KOSU among tertiary institutions across the country that have embraced and implemented the Campus Safety Initiative framework aimed at promoting safer learning environments.
Speaking during the engagement, Professor Eniola assured the delegation that the University Management would carefully review the Memorandum of Understanding with a view to facilitating its speedy adoption.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that gender-based offences are not restricted to any particular gender, noting that both male and female students and staff members can be victims.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and conducive academic environment for all members of the university community.
