Ahead of the party primaries and November 16 governorship election in Kogi State, the immediate past aides of Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole in the 6th Assembly has unanimously resolved to work assiduously in returning Governor Yahaya Bello as the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State.

This was disclosed after a sent forth meeting organised by the Speaker to commend the contributions of the aides to the overall success of the 6th assembly.

At the well attended meeting which was held in the Speaker’s Lodge, Lokoja encomiums were showered on Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole for his magnanimity to have considered them to serve with him when he was elected the 12th Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

The Speaker who commended the aides for their huge supportive roles in the sixth assembly and also before, during and after the election, noted that each and everyone’s contributions into the project were greatly appreciated.

He said their commitment and loyalty while serving with him in the period under review culminated in the undeniable results recorded in the twenty two months of his leadership in the sixth assembly, praising God for not losing any of them to any form of accident or death in the process.

He said the aides have contributed their quota to the development of not just the legislative arm but to the entire state, urging them to continue striving hard in rendering selfless services to humanity anywhere they find themselves in the nearest future.

He said since twenty boys cannot play for twenty years, it is incumbent that some of the aides may not make it to the seventh assembly but promised that his relationship with them continued, praying that God will continue to bless their future endeavors and grant them their heart desires.

Responding separately on behalf of the aides that cut across the 7 Local Government Areas of Kogi West Senatorial District, the outgone, Chief of Staff, Chief Press Secretary, Hon Sunday Ojo and Femi Olugbemi respectively thanked and appreciated Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole for his love to have considered them worthy to serve with him despite their shortcomings.

According to them, Kolawole has shown to be a worthy leader whose interest is to see people coming behind him to progress in life, stressing that if the appointments were to be subjected to debate, many of them wouldn’t have been considered.

They described the Speaker as their mentor and leader whom they will continue to owe their allegiance to politically.

They promised to join the Speaker and other critical stakeholders in the state to preoccupy themselves with the return of Governor Yahaya Bello as the 5th Executive Governor of the state considering his monumental achievements in the area of security, education, infrastructural development, civil service reform, health, grading and upgrading of traditional rulers etc.

‘We will ever remain grateful to Governor Yahaya Bello who repositioned the office of the Honourable Speaker wherein the aides attached to the office are also placed side by side political appointees in the state, hence his return project is our project’; Hon Sunday Ojo added.

Mr. Femi Olugbemi on his part said, ‘Being human, we sincerely plea, that wherever we have erred while discharging our duties, we ask for forgiveness and urged everyone to forge ahead as a family’
