The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, on Saturday appeared before the All Progressives Congress (APC) State 2027 Candidates’ Screening Committee in Lokoja as part of preparations for the forthcoming elections.

A statement issued by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, said the exercise involved the verification of documents and qualifications of aspirants seeking to contest seats in the State House of Assembly under the APC platform in 2027.

According to the statement, the Speaker described the screening process as smooth and well-coordinated, commending the leadership of the party in the state for ensuring a hitch-free exercise.

Rt. Hon. Umar also lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for creating an enabling environment that has strengthened effective party administration and governance in the state.

The Speaker further praised the Kogi APC Chairman, Engr. Aliyu Momoh Ezzu, for what he described as his expertise and leadership in managing party affairs, noting that the APC has continued to distinguish itself as a credible platform for aspiring political office holders.

He expressed optimism that candidates eventually fielded by the ruling party in the 2027 elections would sustain the APC’s winning streak and consolidate its dominance in the state’s political landscape.
