A group known as PBAT/DSSK, has alleged a fresh plot to suspend the winner of the primary election, Senator Sunday Karimi, from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

The Coordinator of PBAT/DSSK and APC chieftain in Kogi West Pastor Adekunle David Dada in a press statment issued on Friday in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area, he alleged that the seven APC local government chairmen in Kogi West were recently invited to Lokoja in what he described as an attempt to validate an alternative outcome of the primary election.

He alleged that some political actors were making efforts to undermine Karimi’s victory and promote a different candidate as the authentic winner.

He, however, said the move was resisted by party stakeholders who insisted on respecting the officially declared result.

Dada further alleged that there were plans to suspend Senator Karimi through ward-level party structures, warning that such action could worsen divisions within the APC.

“We are receiving reports of plans to suspend Senator Karimi from the party using certain ward executives. If carried out, such a move could deepen tensions and create further disunity among loyal party members,” he stated.

Also speaking on the matter, another stakeholder, M.A. Yusuf, expressed concern over the growing internal disputes within the APC in Kogi State.

According to him, continued disagreements and what he described as intimidation of influential party members could weaken the APC ahead of future elections. He called on the party’s national leadership to intervene and ensure fairness, justice and internal democracy.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kogi State APC leadership nor associates of former Governor Yahaya Bello had officially responded to the allegations.

The development has continued to generate debate among party faithful and political observers across Kogi State, with growing calls for the APC national leadership to step in and restore confidence in the party’s internal processes.

Recalled that Senator Karimi emerged victorious in the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18, 2026, securing 51,665 votes across Kogi West Senatorial District. The result was officially announced by the district’s Returning Officer, Haruna Isah, who declared Karimi winner ahead of four other aspirants.

According to the Returning Officer, some contestants, including Hon. Sam Aro, Senator Smart Adeyemi and Tajudeen Bisimillahi, had formally withdrawn from the race before the conclusion of the exercise.

However, controversy erupted days after the primary when an alternative result surfaced online, allegedly declaring one of the withdrawn aspirants, Sam Aro, as the winner.

The development sparked widespread reactions among party members and stakeholders, many of whom described the purported result as an attempt to alter the outcome of a concluded electoral process.
