The landscape of Kogi West Senatorial District is witnessing renewed infrastructure development as Senator Sunday Karimi facilitates funding and ongoing rehabilitation of key federal roads across the region.
The Senator confirmed that CGC, the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Iluhagba–Mopa–Isanlu–Egbe federal road, has been fully mobilised and is currently making progress along the Isanlu–Ejiba axis.
According to Karimi, the intervention followed sustained legislative efforts that led to the inclusion of N3 billion for the project in the 2025 budget.
He further disclosed that additional engagements with the Federal Ministry of Works secured another N6 billion, bringing the total funding for the project to N9 billion.
“I am confident that this road will improve the lives and security of our people,” the Senator said, noting that the progress recorded so far reflects collaboration between the National Assembly and the executive arm of government.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for their support in advancing infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The rehabilitation of the Iluhagba–Egbe road is widely regarded as critical to improving transportation, enhancing economic activities, and strengthening security across communities in Kogi West.
While political reactions have trailed the development, observers say ongoing construction work is gradually shifting public attention toward project delivery and its potential impact on the district.
For many residents, the road project represents a significant step toward addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges and boosting regional connectivity.
As work continues along the corridor, stakeholders across the senatorial district have continued to emphasise the importance of sustained investment in infrastructure to drive development and improve livelihoods.
