A clandestine plan to engineer the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan using falsified signatures has been exposed.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Nigerian Senate, is currently serving a six-month suspension following her allegations of misconduct against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

A statement released by Dr. Onimisi Ibrahim, Coordinator of the Kogi State-based pressure group Action Collective, claims that the plan is a desperate attempt to permanently silence her and prevent her from seeking justice both domestically and internationally.

According to a source, efforts are allegedly underway to facilitate the recall process. The operation, reportedly valued at $2 million, involves recruiting individuals across Kogi State who would be financially incentivized to append fraudulent signatures on recall documents.

Furthermore, the source disclosed that some high-ranking officials have allegedly been influenced to authenticate the process, raising concerns about electoral integrity. In light of this revelation, civil society organizations, human rights activists, and the media have been urged to remain vigilant and scrutinize any documents related to the planned recall.

“The public must be alert, and security agencies should ensure due diligence is carried out before any such recall process is legitimized,” the source emphasized.

The exposure of this plot has sparked fresh concerns over the use of political machinations to suppress opposition voices and manipulate democratic institutions in Nigeria. The coming days are expected to reveal whether the alleged actors proceed with their plans or face resistance from the public and relevant authorities.
