CUSTECH Students Receives Palliative From Management Staff

As a way of cushioning the effects of the hardship prevalent across the country of which the students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara are not an exception, the Management Staff has distributed 30 bags of 50 KG rice to the students.

According to Umar Ogirima Steven, Public Relations Unit, CUSTECH, Osara, Performing the distribution of palliative ceremony at the university campus in Osara, the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu stated that the Management Staff had to pull their resources together to purchase the 30 bags of 50 KG rice to share to the students as they are part of the society that the economy is biting so hard at the moment.

The Vice Chancellor in his words said that, “As parents, we cannot fold our hands and watch our students move around hungry hence, the reason we have decided to make this provision as part of our widow’s mite which we believe will be of great help to the students who are the direct beneficiaries.”

Furthermore, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu reiterated that, the Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo has advised the Management to find a way of alleviating the effects of the economic hardship on the students who spends most of their time on campus so as to remain focus in pursuing their academic works.

The Vice Chancellor admonished the students to take the palliative with a heart of gratitude and not to mind the quantity given to them.

In his words, “I want you students to receive this gesture from us with appreciation, do not think about the quantity that will reach you because you people are large in number. I will be glad if you people understands the reason behind this rare sacrifice we have made to see that this measure is taken to show that we care for your well being.”

Receiving the bags of rice on behalf of the students, the Dean of Students Affairs, Engr. Dr. Shaib A. Shehu commended the Management Staff for providing succour to the students. He described this as a kind gesture that will go a long way to reduce hunger among the students.

Speaking as a voice for the students who are the recipients of the palliative given by the Management Team, Luqman Onimisi, a 400 Level student of Microbiology expressed his profound gratitude to the Management Staff for their show of love.

He promised that they will always be good ambassadors of CUSTECH and will always remember the institution as one that its Management Team has shown them much love and the same will remain an indelible act in their hearts.

Members of the Management Staff who were present at the event alongside the Vice Chancellor were the University Registar, Ms. Olufunke Hudson, University Bursar, Mr. John Alaji, University Librarian, Mr. Jeremiah Salifu.

Others were: Director of Academics, Pharm. Muhammad. A. Audu, Director of Works and Maintenance, Arc. Usman Muhammad and the Principal Assistant Registrar in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Isah Abdullazeez.
