The Federal Polytechnic, Idah, has appealed to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to extend further intervention to critical infrastructure projects as a consultant team visited the institution to assess the impact of the Fund’s interventions from 2016 to 2025.
The appeal was made by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Y.B. Usman, while receiving the TETFund Consultant Team led by Prof. Isah Abdulraheem, Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Abuja, during an Impact and Needs Assessment exercise.
Dr. Usman commended TETFund for its numerous interventions in the institution over the years but noted that several key projects still require funding.
He identified the fencing of the Polytechnic, construction and rehabilitation of the institution’s road network, and the development of a solar farm, among other infrastructural projects, as priority areas deserving future intervention.
He urged TETFund to consider the projects in its subsequent intervention programmes to further strengthen the institution’s infrastructure and academic environment.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Abdulraheem explained that the assessment was aimed at evaluating the impact of TETFund’s interventions between 2016 and 2025, identifying the specific needs of beneficiary institutions, and recommending measures to improve the effectiveness of the Fund’s intervention programmes.
He appreciated the Rector and the Polytechnic management for their warm reception and cooperation, noting that the outcome of the assessment would assist TETFund in making informed decisions on future interventions in tertiary institutions across the country.
Among those present at the meeting were the Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr. M.I. Yusufu; the Registrar, Dr. O.A. Oniyide; the Bursar, Mr. Ibrahim Uba Usman; the Polytechnic Librarian, Mr. Bature Bitrus; the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Abu Onoja; the Director of Physical Planning, Engr.
