A United States of American (USA) based medical outfits, Gillead Quantum Health Systems and Triple A Plus, have donated Medical Equipment, Materials and Consumables to Kogi State Government as part of the ‘GYB Door to Door Medical Outreach”, and towards the fight against Covid-19 in the state.
The Project Principal Consultant, Mr. Lawrence Kyuka, while handing over the medicals to Kogi Government on behalf of the companies, commended the state Governor for his efforts in preventing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic into the State.
Kyuka enjoined the people to continue to work hard and follow all the medical professional advice and directives on the precautionary measures so that the state could remain free of the dreaded virus.
The consultant noted that the program which was originally inaugurated in September 2019 by His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello, had enhanced the treatment of over 6000 Kogites.
According to him, the medical treatment include surgical operations, distribution of free medicated eyeglasses, dental care and optical treatment in the three senatorial districts of the state.
He added that the second phase of the program would be the distribution of the medical equipment and materials donated by the Organisations to medical facilities by the Kogi State Government.
Kyuka expressed the readiness and willingness of the organisations to continue to partner with the state for optimum benefits of the good people of Kogi State.
Receiving the items on behalf of the State Government, His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja who doubles as the state Chairman of COVID 19 Squadron thanked the organisation for the gesture.
Onoja noted that the organisations’ aid was coming at a critical time that the sate was in need of those items, assuring that the items would be distributed freely to medical facilities in the state as directed by the Governor.
He stressed that it would go a long way to help in their preparedness to curb the COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
On his part, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Audu Haruna, assured the organisations of the commitment of his ministry to promptly and adequately implement the distribution of the items across medical facilities in the State.
Other officials present at event include: the State Epidemiologist, Dr. Austin Ojutule, and other officials of the Kogi State Ministry of Health.
Items donated were: Mobile Oxygen machine, face masks, hand gloves, laboratory equipment, materials and consumables, Maternity materials, new born baby materials, dentals, medicated eye classes.
Others included: Diapass for adult and children, Autorpedic accessories, surgical implements, hospital usables like chairs pillows disposable hospital beings, among several others.
