Unconfirmed report coming from Minna in Nigeria State on Sunday said the former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd), is dead.
The report which quoted a family source said the ex-military ruler died on Sunday morning in Minna, Niger State.
The Niger State-born infantry officer has been suffering from an undisclosed illness for several years.
Babangida, who ruled the country from August 27, 1985 to August 26, 1993, will be most remembered by Nigerians for annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential election presumably won by the late business mogul, Chief M.K.O Abiola.
