Senator Dino Melaye has alleged that the Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and Senator Smart Adeyemi want the security agents to detained him before the election.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Senator.
According to him, the in-house source, Senator Smart Adeyemi was said to have pleaded with the governor to use every possible means to ensure that Senator Dino Melaye is detained as the only way he can win the forthcoming election.
“However, the deputy governor, His Excellency, Edward Onoja was of the contrary opinion, stating that previous arrests have always given Senator Dino Melaye sympathy among the electorates and the entire citizens of the state.
“PDP leadership have raised the attention of the people of Kogi west and the state at large to this ungodly alleged plan by the desperate Smart Adeyemi who knows that he can not win in a credible election against Dino Melaye.
“The People’s Democratic Party have called on the good people of Kogi west senatorial district and kogi electorates to resist any attempt to rub them of their excercising their right in choosing candidates of their choice in the election.
Senator Dino Melaye was in detention during the recall process which failed in it’s entirety as well as various other arrests and incerserations before the last general election. All these Onoja said have given Senator Dino Melaye increased popularity and eventual victory at the pool.
