Fresh controversy has reportedly erupted over the outcome of the Kogi West Senatorial Primary Election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following alleged new moves in Lokoja aimed at overturning the result of the May 18, 2026 primary.

Sources close to party stakeholders revealed that some APC executives have allegedly been mobilised to Lokoja for a planned press conference intended to project Hon. Sam Aro as the winner of the primary election, despite reports that he had earlier withdrawn from the contest and that Dist.

Senator Sunday Karimi had already emerged as the consensus and duly elected candidate.

The development has heightened tension within the party, with concerns mounting over what stakeholders describe as coordinated attempts to distort the officially accepted outcome of the exercise.

According to information circulating among party faithful, pressure is also allegedly being mounted on the APC State Chairman from Kogi West Senatorial District to issue statements questioning the legitimacy of the concluded primary election process.

In another related development, the Zonal APC Chairman for Kogi West is said to have summoned all Local Government APC Chairmen across the district to an emergency press briefing, a move observers believe may be connected to efforts to legitimise the disputed result currently making the rounds.

Stakeholders within the party have condemned the unfolding developments, describing them as part of a broader agenda to manipulate the outcome of the senatorial primary through what they termed forged election documents and political intimidation.

Political observers insist that the primary election had earlier been resolved peacefully after aspirants reportedly agreed to support Senator Sunday Karimi as consensus candidate.

They noted that both written and electronic evidence confirming the agreement are already in circulation, raising questions over the renewed attempts to reopen the issue.

Concerned party members have therefore cautioned against actions capable of triggering internal crisis within the APC in Kogi West, warning that coercion, misinformation, and politically motivated narratives could undermine the unity already built within the party.

Supporters and stakeholders have meanwhile appealed to party faithful to remain calm, vigilant, and committed to lawful democratic processes as the situation continues to unfold.
