The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kogi State chapter, has condemned the killing of 10 pastoralists men, women and children in Ankpa Local Government Area of the state, describing the attack as barbaric and unacceptable.

In a statement issued on Monday by the State Secretary of the association, Suleiman Muhammed, MACBAN said it was deeply saddened and outraged by the killing of innocent men, women and children during the attack.

The association identified those killed as Isiaka Lawal, Larai Musa, wife of Isiaka Lawal, Abdullahi Isiaka, Isah Isiaka, Saleh Isiaka, Samsiya Adamu, Asma’u Siuni, Basullube Musa and Bello Musa.

According to the statement, three other persons sustained injuries during the incident. They were identified as Husseini Haruna, Abdullahi Abdullahi and Sa’ida Haruna.

MACBAN called on security agencies to immediately investigate the attack, arrest those responsible and ensure justice is served.

“We condemn this barbaric act in the strongest terms and call on security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators and ensure that justice is served,” the statement said.

The association warned that continued attacks on innocent pastoral communities could heighten tensions among peaceful residents in the area.

MACBAN also extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.

The group appealed to governments at all levels, humanitarian organisations and relevant authorities to provide urgent relief materials and medical assistance to affected families.

It further urged members of the pastoralist community and residents of Ankpa to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies carry out investigations.

“The sanctity of human life must be protected at all times regardless of ethnic background, religion or occupation. Nigeria belongs to all citizens, and every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law,” the statement added.
