
The Nigerian Navy has organized a special Medical Rhapsody in honour of 100 military veterans comprises of Navy, Police, Military and Civil Defence Corp as part of activities marking its 70th anniversary celebration.
Speaking at the event, the Commanding officer Naval Outpost Idah, in Kogi State, CDR Amos Gadzama described the gathering as a tribute to the courage, sacrifice and dedicated service of veterans who defended the nation’s peace and security over the years.
He noted that the programme was more than just an event, but a heartfelt acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by military personnel, many of whom continue to live with the physical and emotional effects of their experiences long after active service.
“It is both a privilege and a profound honour to welcome you all to this special Medical Rhapsody organized in recognition and celebration of our brave military veterans,” the speaker said.
According to the address, the well-being of veterans remains important to the nation, stressing that many of them fought difficult battles in defense of national unity and stability.
The event also highlighted the importance of holistic healthcare for veterans, with emphasis on physical, emotional and psychological wellness.
“As the Nigerian Navy marks her 70 years anniversary, this Medical Rhapsody reflects a harmonious blend of healthcare, compassion and gratitude to our veterans who have contributed positively to our nation,” the speaker stated.
The address further explained that just as music soothes the soul, quality medical care helps restore both body and mind, adding that the programme was designed to bring these elements together in appreciation of the sacrifices of veterans.
The Nigerian Navy reiterated its commitment to the welfare of retired military personnel and expressed appreciation to partners and stakeholders supporting the initiative.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event thanks the Commanding officer of the Naval Outpost Idah for organised the free medical outreach.
They called on the Fededal government not to forget them and improved on their take home.
