The Ohinoyi Ebira SAAKI Alhaji. (Dr.) Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje has resolved the lingering issues involving Ohirebas and the community leaders over the burning of masquerade mask in Eika Adagu community.
The traditional ruler convened a meeting to address the burning of a masquerade mask.
The community leaders clarified that the mask burning was not intended to spark conflict but rather to uphold the land’s rules. The incident occurred at a landlord’s property, where he faced threats from his son and grandson, who were involved in Yahoo gang activities and had previously threatened to harm him. The mask could have been used to carry out the threat.
His Majesty posed a poignant question: “Between the mask and loss of life, which is more costly?” The unanimous response was that life is more valuable. His Majesty criticized the public burning of the mask and announced the establishment of an inter-religious committee to address similar issues.
Imam AbdulQodir Akadi and a cultural custodian leader praised His Majesty’s wise handling of the situation. They prayed for peace in Ebiraland, the state leaders’ guidance, and the release of former Governor Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello from EFCC custody.
