The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has disclosed that out of 5,051 students graduating, 35 students of the institution made first class.
He made this known on Monday during a press conference marking the commencement of the activities of the 9th convertion ceremony of the institution.
According to him, the overall best student is Sherif Ohieku Haruna from department of Geology who came out with first class.
He further mentioned that 5,051 students are expected to graduate from the institution.
Given the brake down, 35 students came out with first class, 760 students with second class upper, 2,287 students with second class lower, 383 students with third class and 1 student came out pass.
Out of the 5,051 students expected to graduate from the institution, they have 3,466 undergraduate students, 838 Postgraduate and 747 for diploma.
Professor Akinwumi further mentioned that this year Convocation is particularly significant to him as it marks the last under his administration as the 3rd Vice Chancellor of the institution.
“Since our last conversation, the university has continued to make tremendous progress in academics, infrastructure, research, innovation, and partnerships; consistent with their vision of transforming federal Univarsity Lokoja into a world class institution
“Vertically all newly introduced programmes have been resource-verifies and accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other professional bodies. The MBBS programme is in its final stage of accreditation by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
“The Univarsity has successfully affiliated several programmes with reputable partner institutions such Auchi Polytechic, Edo state and Kogi State Polytechic, Lokoja.
