Two brothers between the ages of 15 and 19 years old have allegedly
killed their 60-year-old father, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Maileather, in Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
An eyewitness disclosed that the incident happened over the weekend at about 8:30 a.m. in Sarkin-Noma when Dahiru Yusuf was stabbed to death by his son.
The elder brother of the deceased, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammed Bala, who confirmed the incident, said he was at his residence when a sister called him about the tragic event.
“When my sister called me, she said our brother had been killed by his son. I quickly ran to my brother’s residence only to be told he had been moved to a hospital,” he said.
Bala added that the suspect has been handed over to the police. He also mentioned that the mother of the suspect and her other two children have fled to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, said one of the suspect by name Abba Yusuf has been arrested while the second person is on the run.
His words, ” It is a case of culpable homicide. ON 05/10/2024 at about 2100HRS distress call was received by the DPO ‘B’ Division lokoja that one Alhaji. Dahiru Yusuf ‘M’ of Sarkin Noma area was murdered. Immediately DCO/team were dispatched to the scene where the lifeless body of the above named deceased was met laying in pool of his blood with multiple stab wound all over his body
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was stabbed by his two sons, namely Abba Yusuf Aminu Yusuf and his divorced wife one Hajia Jummai ‘F’ all of the same address as a result of a prolonged domestic/matrimonial misunderstanding further info revealed that both sons have severally robbed the deceased of millions of naira to buy IPHONES. eyewitnesses testified that the deceased repeatedly called out “ABBA! ABBA!!” as a dying declaration before he passed away at SHAFA Hospital Lokoja photographs taken corpse deposited at the morgue for autopsy later released to the deceased relatives for burial according to islamic rites. Exhibit knife blood stained clothes were recovered at the scene. the said Abba Yusuf has been arrested, while efforts ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects. CP orders that the case be transferred to CID mine for discreet investigation.
