Hajiya Imaan Suleiman- Ibrahim is the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees,Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons NCFRMI in Nigeria.
Since her assumption of duty from NAPTIP in June, her strides towards partnerships and capacity building both at the commission level and the vulnerable in the society is unwavering.
Since the bane of insecurity is largely responsible for the exposure of the vulnerable in the society, as well as internally displaced locations, she set the ball rolling by further building her capacity on security related matters.
The positive development has set the bar of capacity building among staffers of the commission and by extension the IDPs, POC’s, Stateless,Returnees and other vulnerable in Nigeria.
Having gone through the rigour of security training at the National Institute For Security Studies NISS in Abuja with exposure to other foreign counterparts with foreign sojourn to acquaint herself with the intricacies of security related issues, that had further enlarged not only her administrative wizardry, but security consciousness in terms of pro activeness and not only reactionary, as it is obtainable in Nigeria and across the globe today.
The nine months capacity building and training according to Imaan Suleiman- Ibrahim will further enlarged and exposed her to security related issues and solutions at the same time.
This development is an eye opener for the commission workers to explore this avenue in capacity building with the exemplary conducts of the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons NCFRMI Hajiya Imaan Suleiman- Ibrahim.
Imaan’s efforts is not only to develop the staffers of the commission alone, efforts are being made by the commission to expose the IDPs and other vulnerable to various skills and enterpreneural knowledge and activities, through partnership with both private and public entities.
The ongoing partnerships will also exposed the POC’s to smart knowledge,as the recent partnership to train about 10,000 IDPs across the country by National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA was a right step in the right direction,so as to discourage indolence and idleness from the various camps across the country, that is capable of exposing them to all sort of vices.
Under it’s “Project Skill Up” to build capacity across the IDP camps,a partnership with Innoson motors has being consumnated by the commission to train 100 IDPs that will gradually be extended to all IDP camps across the country.
Innoson is expected to train POC’s on car repairs and manufacturing as an indigenous car manufacturing company that will exposed them t particular skills among many others.
Imaan’s initiatives will also make the POC’s employers of labour, aside car making and car repairs to detach them from continuous redundancy in the IDP camps.
This is in her efforts to convert the IDP settlements centres to their homes having stayed for years in the various areas.
She premised that the issue of IDPs had gone beyond mere theory and basic needs, but life sustenance to make them self reliant and productive in the society.
This will also give the IDPs the opportunity to develop the local contents, through exploration and exploitation of various local contents.
The new “Project Skill Up” among many others is expected to explore other indigenous and foreign investors through partnership to ensure the POC’s are extricated from indolence and idleness in their various settlements and camp in Nigeria.
This novel stride is commendable and achievable, having been practicalised, with the potentials of developing the IDPs in Nigeria will be achievable.
Her novel ideas and ideals is a departure from the previous templates, where IDPs or POC’s are kept redundantly exposing them to negative tendencies and consequences in our society.
