
Former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, has expressed deep shock over the passing of renowned academic and Professor of Educational Psychology, Professor Abdullahi Onimisi, who died in the early hours of today.
Bello in a press statement issued by Director, Yahaya Bello Media Office, Michael Ohiare, described the death of the distinguished scholar as not only a huge loss to Ebiraland and Kogi State but also to Nigeria and the global academic community.
He noted that Professor Abdullahi was a man of immense impact, particularly in Nigeria’s education sector, where his wealth of knowledge, experience, and dedication contributed significantly to the advancement of education and the development of countless scholars.
According to Bello, the late professor was a man of peace, integrity, commitment, and selfless service who devoted his life to mentoring and shaping future leaders through education.
The former governor recalled that Professor Abdullahi, who hailed from the Ozi Osusu Clan of Ahache, Agassa Ward, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, was a highly respected Professor at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. His outstanding contributions to education, scholarship, and national development earned him widespread admiration and respect within and beyond the academic community. Bello described his passing as painful and a monumental loss to the nation.
He further stated that throughout his distinguished career, Professor Onimisi Abdullahi remained steadfast in his pursuit of knowledge, academic excellence, and the advancement of future generations.
As Provost of the Federal College of Education, Okene, he provided exemplary leadership, upheld high academic standards, nurtured young scholars, and inspired both staff and students through his wisdom, discipline, and unwavering commitment to quality education.
While condoling the family of the late academic icon, the people of Ebiraland, the academic community, Bello prayed that Almighty Allah grant the departed soul Al-Jannah Firdaus and grant his family, friends, and associates the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
