A leading House of Representatives aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Otunba Olaiya Michael Olobatoke has advised that people who did not participate during the last Voter’s registration exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to avail themselves of the forthcoming Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC registration which will be carried out at the wards level, especially those that have not attained the age of 18 years as at the time of the last voter’s registration exercise in order for them to exercise their civic rights in the next round of elections coming up in 2023.
Olobatoke emphasised that there is need to give more enlightenment to the people at the grassroots and making them know the importance of the excercise.
Speaking on the importance of ‘massive Voter’s registration, OMO urged the women and youth to go out and register enmasse, remarked that that it was pertinent for them to embrace the ongoing Voter’s registration exercise in order for the local government areas in the federal constituency to boost its voting strength which he said will inturn attract government attention to the area.
“The Voting strength in an area could plays a crucial role in influencing government’s attention to that area. In the last election, the voting strength of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency was not too good, and we need an improvement on that. We should therefore carry out this sensitization and enlightenment exercise.”
He lauded those who have already gotten their PVC, asking them to guard it jealously and keep them safe for the forthcoming 2023.
He concluded by saying “your power is your vote and your and you can only use this power when you have your PVC. It is high time we all stop being negligent on matters that affects us all as a nation.
