Some suspected bandits have killed not less than three farmers following a deadly attack on farmers who were returning home from farm.
The incident took place at Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo state.
The farmers were killed while returning to their homes from the market. The reason behind the attack remains unknown.
Two of the farmers were returning from the market where they had gone to Budo Musa to buy a ram for the christening of the baby of one of the victims.
Unfortunately for the farmers, the suspected bandits attacked the farmers on their way back from Budo Musa market.
One of the farmers died on the spot but the other farmer escaped with injuries.
One of the dead farmers was not of Nigerian origin. Another farmer who was also not of Nigerian origin was seriously injured.
According to reports, two other farmers were killed on their farms in the same Local Government Area. According to eyewitness reports, the farmers struggled with the heavily armed gunmen before they were finally killed.
Residents of the area are currently urging the state government to please come to their aid.
This latest attack on Oyo farmers is one out of numerous cases of attacks which has been recorded in the country in recent years.
