Owner of the popular Chucks supermarket situated in Lokoja, Kogi state, Mr. Nicholas Ofodile and several other persons have been killed by suspected kidnappers at Gegu along Lokoja- Abuja road on Wednesday morning.
It was reliably gathered that the incident occured at about 6.30 am when a Luxury bus C.E.N Nigeria Limited which plate number was removed and other vehicles travelling along Abuja- Lokoja were attacked at Gegu, in Kogi local government council killing several people and kidnapped other persons.
An eyewitnesses account disclosed further that immediately the vehicles were approaching, the suspected kidnappers numbering over fifteen barricade the road, opened fire on the incoming vehicles while some vehicle lost control.
He further said several people were killed, kidnapped others while some people were injured during the gun attacked adding that most people kidnapped were in the Luxury vehicle
Meanwhile, the kogi state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Emmmanuel Abe who also confirmed the story said his men were on ground to take rescued those that were injured to the hospital and evercuate the death bodies and also to avoid traffic jam along the road.
However, Mr Nicholas Ofodile who owns the popular Chucks supermarket was also killed in his Lexus Jeep with registration number LKJ 658 PU was killed on the spot.
Also confirming the report the kogi state police command public relations officer, DSP Williams Aya said two persons lost their lives including a prominent business man in Kogi state, Mr Nicholas Ofodile who owns the popular Chucks supermarket Lokoja.
He noted that the state commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Ede has drafted some armed security men to the area saying they are yet to get full details.
