Stakeholders from Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State have formally endorsed Hon. Umar Yahaya as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement, announced during a presss conference held in Lokoja on saturday on behalf of Omala Indiaspora and the Omala Home Base, described the move as a “bold and historic declaration” rooted in the lawmaker’s track record of performance and grassroots development.

Addressing community leaders, party faithful, youths, and women, the spoke person of the group, Comrade Muhammed Awal Halilu said its decision was based on “visible results, tested capacity, and undeniable commitment to the people,” rather than sentiment.

The stakeholders highlighted Yahaya’s contributions across key sectors, particularly education, where he reportedly facilitated the distribution of over 400 free JAMB forms, awarded scholarships, and sponsored 27 students in tertiary institutions.

In community development, he was credited with supporting the construction of roads, boreholes, and solar-powered streetlights, as well as improving access to clean water, with borehole projects said to be nearing completion across the 11 wards in Omala.

The group also pointed to his empowerment initiatives, including skills acquisition programmes in tailoring, ICT, and modern agriculture, aimed at boosting economic independence among youths and women.

In the health sector, Yahaya was said to have initiated the construction of a cottage hospital in Ogudu District, while also supporting farmers with inputs and equipment to enhance agricultural productivity.

On infrastructure and security, the statement noted his role in installing over 50 streetlights, renovating community centres, and funding the construction of the Ibado Akpacha police post. He was also credited with facilitating the approval of a security outpost in Bagana, a community described as crisis-prone.

The stakeholders further commended his social welfare efforts, including the distribution of palliatives and over N7.5 million in cash support to vulnerable residents during the last festive season.

Describing Yahaya as “accessible, dependable, and committed to grassroots development,” the group said he has already demonstrated the qualities required for effective representation at the national level.

“We hereby declare our total and unwavering support for Hon. Umar Yahaya,” the statement read, while calling on residents of Ankpa and Olamaboro to align with the endorsement.

The group concluded by urging unity across the constituency, describing the endorsement as a collective push for progress, equity, and a better future ahead of the 2027 elections.
