The Ohimegye Igu, Koton-Karfe, HRM Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu has assured that the unity, peace and development of Igu Kingdom would remain his topmost priority.
The Royal father renewed this commitment to ensuring oneness and togetherness of his people when he received in audience, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Umar, Member, Representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Aguye, Commissioner For Water Resources, Engr Yahaya MD Farouk, the Caretaker Chairman, Lokoja LGA, Comr Abdullahi Adamu amongst other dignitaries who came to pay him a courtesy visit and to pray the Jumat prayers with the Royal father at KotonKarfe.
The Royal father said his major priority is to work towards the development of the kingdom, pointing out that efforts at empowering the people of his kingdom who are agrarian and fishermen in nature is also receiving the desired attention.
He promised robust collaboration with organizations and individuals who are committed to ensuring that the living standards of the people of his kingdom is uplifted.
While he expressed gratitude to the Speaker and others for the visit, solicited more of government support to the kingdom towards improving infrastructure development, lauded the present administration for it efforts in making life meaningful for the people of the State.
Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker, Hon. Umar, described the Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu as a bridge, expressed gratitude with the hands of fellowship he is extending to all sons and daughters of Igu Kingdom towards ensuring peace and development.
The Speaker called on the people to rally round the Traditional Ruler, said meaningful and sustainable development can better be attained when the people work in unison.
In his remarks, the Member, Representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Aguye, reiterated his promises to ensuring that the people of Kogi LGA get what is due to them under his representation.
He disclosed that in the the coming days, his lawmaking intervention as it relates to the people of his federal Constituency would be visibly felt in the areas of empowerment and infrastructure.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr Yahaya MD Farouk and the Caretaker Chairman, Lokoja LGA, Comr Abdullahi Adamu also lauded the leadership qualities of the Ohimegye, pointing out that his early steps in making unity paramount gladdens their hearts, expressed optimism in his ability to discharge his traditional responsibilities for the good of the people.
Highlights of the visit was the observing of Jumat prayers by the delegation with the Ohimegye Igu Koton-Karfe amidst hundred of other worshippers.
