A media owner in Kogi State, Olotu Abdulmalik Abdulmumin has cautioned media owners in the country to be cautious of contents being aired or pushed to their audiences in other not to further aggravate situation in the society.
Abdulmalik who is the The proprietor of Highland F.M (98.9),Okene, maintained that contents being aired on radio and television or in newspapers have impact on their respective audiences.
He made the appeal over the weekend at the formal commissioning of the private radio station.
” Whatever we broadcast out on radio and on television or through newspapers have impact on our respective audiences and societies. So, we must be wary of this.We should rather churn out materials that will unite our respective societies and assure them that our current security challenges are not insurmountable. We should not aggravate the current situation by spreading news that are false and capable of instilling fears in our people,” he said.
According to him, he set up the private radio station to further promote peace and unity in Kogi state, adding that he equally set up the radio station to provide jobs for youths in the state.
” I believe all of us should come together and do whatever we could legitimately to further develop the state. If we don’t do this, nobody will do it for us,” he declared.
Highlight of the occasion was the formal commissioning of the radio station by traditional rulers in the community led by the Ohi of Adavi, Alhaji Muhammed Bello.
