Ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled to hold on the 12th December, 2020, information has emerged that a member of the Kogi State Independent Electoral commission who was inaugurated few months ago representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency on the commission, Mr. Funsho Olorunfemi has been alleged to be holding series of secret meetings with the major opposition party, People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) to perfect plans that may jeopardize the entire process.
According to an impeccable source Funsho Olorunfemi is said to have called a meeting at his residence in Kabba a few weeks ago where he concluded arrangements with the leadership of the party to give them the necessary soft landing in the commission for them to have a smooth sail at the elections.
The source further confirmed that he has even gone ahead to select some persons for the Chairmanship position and the 15 wards Councillors across Kabba/Bunu local government respectively.
It was also noted that he has consistently encouraged the PDP members to show interest in the elections in some local government areas in Kogi West where he has interests, stressing that as a member of the commission, he will stop at nothing in ensuring that they are returned elected in the proposed elections.
It was also alleged that Mr Funsho Olorunfemi has continued to brag to be ahead of other stakeholders, assuring that whoever he sponsors irrespective of the parties will not lose the election.
However, Mr. Olorunfemi in a swift reaction denied the allegation. He said that what concerned him most presently is to that SIEC conducted free, fair and credible local government council elections.
” Am not a party member, neither am I card carrying member of APC and that is why am member of the SIEC. Am a high chief title holder in Owe land. I don’t have any candidate mine is to see that we conduct credible local government council election
“Those that are making the noise are enemy of progress and it will not distract us from doing our job. It is was not possible for me to work for any opposition parties for the election , all the allegations are false am not are party member,” he said.
