The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District,and Chairman Senate Committee on Health,Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has called for the review of the procurement process to ensure speedy implementation of the nation’s budget.
Dr. Oloriegbe made the call while featuring on the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ Kwara state Council programme “News Keg” in Ilorin.
He said the procurement system set up is being used as bottle neck in the implementation of the budget.
Dr Oloriegbe absolved the executive from the cause of frustration on the citizens over delay in budget implementation .
He explained that the no objection process adopted as a result of COVID-19 pandemic should be applicable on all projects.
Dr. Oloriegbe also advocated for reduction in the numbers of agencies involve in the procurement process.
He also called for transparency,and accountability on the part of Nigerians to ensure speedy execution of projects.
On the issue of unemployment ,Dr Oloriegbe urged the youths to think out of the box and seek other forms of employment.
He advised that since the federal government can not employ everyone.
Dr. Oloriegbe also called on wealthy individuals to assist in youths empowerment to make them self reliance.
