The Kogi State Government has officially launched a sweeping rebranding initiative aimed at reshaping public perception, boosting investor confidence, and projecting the state as a hub of opportunity and innovation.

The unveiling, which took place yesterday in Lokoja, brought together government officials, private sector players, youth groups, and development partners in what authorities described as a “defining moment” for the state’s future.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo said the rebranding effort goes beyond logos and slogans, stressing that it represents a renewed commitment to transparency, economic growth, and service delivery.

“This rebranding is about telling our true story,” the governor stated. “Kogi is rich in resources, culture, and human capital. It is time the world sees us through that lens.”

According to him, the initiative will focus on promoting Kogi’s comparative advantages in agriculture, solid minerals, tourism, and commerce, while also addressing long-standing misconceptions about the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, explained that the rebranding campaign will involve strategic media engagement, digital visibility, and partnerships designed to position Kogi competitively among Nigerian states.

He noted that the government would leverage storytelling, branding assets, and targeted campaigns to highlight success stories across sectors, including infrastructure development, security improvements, and youth empowerment programmes.

Stakeholders at the event welcomed the move, describing it as timely and necessary in a fast-evolving national and global environment where perception plays a key role in attracting investment.

Some participants, however, urged the government to match the rebranding with sustained policy implementation and measurable outcomes, emphasizing that credibility will depend on visible progress.

The rebranding launch featured cultural displays, presentations, and the unveiling of new branding materials, including a logo and thematic message expected to drive the campaign in the coming months.

Observers say the success of the initiative will largely depend on consistency, public engagement, and the government’s ability to translate its vision into tangible development across the state.
