The Government of Kogi State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Justice Yahaya Adamu of the Kogi State High Court.

Hon. Justice Yahaya Adamu passed away on Saturday evening at the Teaching Hospital, Lokoja after a brief illness.

In a statement issued on Sunday,
by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications, the state government described the late jurist as a distinguished pillar of the judiciary whose commitment to justice, integrity and the rule of law earned him widespread respect within and outside the legal community.

According to the government, Justice Adamu remained steadfast in the discharge of his duties until his death, making remarkable contributions to the administration of justice in the state.

The government also disclosed that conscious efforts were made to ensure the late judge received the best medical attention during his illness, but despite those interventions, he passed away.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo described Justice Adamu as “a reputable voice in the temple of justice,” noting that his experience, wisdom and dedication to fairness would be greatly missed.

The governor said the late judge left behind a legacy of service and commitment to justice that would continue to inspire future generations in the legal profession.

He extended condolences on behalf of the government and people of the state to the family of the deceased, the Kogi State Judiciary and all those affected by the loss.

His remains will be buried according to Islamic rites at Igalamela/Odolu on Sunday.
