The Management of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) led by the Acting Executive Chairman, Alh. Sule Salihu Enehe, has been applauded for prioritising the welfare of Staffers of the revenue service.

Speaking with newsmen on the sideline of the ongoing promotion examination organised for the staff of KGIRS, the Head of Corporate Communications Unit, Muhammad Mukhtar Idris, said the objective of the exercise is to enable the members of staff who have been stagnated at a particular grade level for long to enjoy a new phase of their service appreciation to the organisation and to the State.

“This is the first time in the history of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service where the staff were duly prepared to attend a promotion examination as mandatory exercise for them to move forward in their careers, and as well as in the course of discharging their duties effectively and efficiently.

“It is obvious and pertinent to say that the joy of any staff of any organisation knows no bound when he or she gets a promotion, but it’s different when such Staff gets the same after many years of stagnation.

“In fact, the Acting Executive Chairman of KGIRS, my boss, who has refused to be tired of our welfare package series has done what other chief executives of the Service could not do for years.

“The current Management has taken the bull by the horn by ensuring that every Staff gets his or her entitlements including promotions that have been overlooked for years”, he stated.

Mukhtar further explained that the promotion exercises were meant for staff who were engaged between year 2016 to 2018, noting that Staffers employed as from 2019 to date will also benefit from the exercise starting from the subsequent year as the Management hopes to make it a standard of practise.

The Head of Corporate Communications Unit, who was visibly happy while interacting with newsmen on Friday, 27th of January, 2023, at the examination venue in Lokoja, appealed to his member colleagues for their maximum support which will, of course, translate in more revenue for the State.

“We are elated by the performance of the Acting Executive Chairman and his experienced Management team. We are very sure that when he becomes full-fledged Executive Chairman of the Service, his transformation agendas for the Service will be enormous”, he added.

The promotion exam was packaged together and conducted by the Confluence Business School, Lokoja, which is to run in two batches to contain both the Managerial and Revenue Cadres for two days, and so is expected to finish on Saturday, January 28, 2023. The exam coordinator is Prof. J O Alabi, the Chief Executive, Confluence Business School, Lokoja, Kogi State.
